Telling a real family’s story, Badge of Honor features a teenage boy’s bedroom—teeming with pop-culture objects from the 1990s—next to his father’s austere prison cell.

Apprenticeships were regulated and monitored by European craft guilds established during the medieval period to control craft production. Apprenticeship training—a legal contract between a student and a master craftsperson—became an advantageous alternative to traditional education.

Jasper Johns: 100 Variations on a Theme
To give context to Johns’s recurring themes and motifs, the exhibition also features works on paper by the artist from the MFAH collections and private collections. This extraordinary suite of prints offers an overview of Johns’s career, providing the opportunity to see his creative process at work. Johns (born 1930) originally created this monoprint series to accompany what would have been a special edition of his Catalogue Raisonné of Paintings and Sculptures.

Reflections of a New World: Japanese Protest and Art on Film
The exhibition For a New World to Come: Experiments in Japanese Art and Photography, 1968–1979 explores the struggle of Japanese artists to forge a new identity during a time of political and social turmoil. The films in this series, which respond to the themes and concerns of artists represented in this groundbreaking show, were selected by Yasufumi Nakamori, the Museum's associate curator of photography.

Modern and Contemporary Masterworks from Malba - Fundación Costantini
