Welcome remarks by Consul General Kyung-eun Lee, Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Houston

Set in fifteenth-century Joseon, this absorbing period drama – a box office smash! – begins with a piece of folk wisdom. Heung-do, the headman of a remote mountain village, hears that hosting an exiled nobleman will bring prosperity, so he petitions to take one in, never guessing his guest will be Danjong, the deposed boy-king, removed from the throne. An unlikely, touching bond forms between them, even as the village is drawn into the lethal currents of royal intrigue.
