Al (Isiah Whitlock Jr., The Wire) disappears from his home with his wife (Oscar nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, King Richard) and journeys to a small village on the West coast of Ireland to grieve a major loss in his life. As an American outsider in a close-knit community, he finds the constant inquisition to be unwelcome in comparison to his isolated lifestyle, especially from an eccentric young woman (Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Derry Girls) with a curious dog. As a friendship evolves, both new friends are forced to accept their troubled pasts are with them no matter how far they run. Houston-based director Vicky Wight brings remarkable performances from each actor to craft an emotional journey with heart and hope. The Body Is Water also features a stirring dance performance by Houston Ballet’s own Eric Best.
