Real-life tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon stars as alcoholic Dale Turner, who goes to Paris in the late 1950s to play at the Blue Note club and is befriended by a young Frenchman (François Cluzet). ’Round Midnight’s many jazz performances, recorded live, feature Gordon with Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Hutcherson, and others. This screening honors French filmmaker and film historian Bertrand Tavernier, who died in 2021.
