In conjunction with Night at the MFAH and in celebration of the exhibition Frida: The Making of an Icon, the MFA Shop presents a trunk show featuring Houston-based jewelry brand De Petra with a special appearance by designer Lorena Medinilla. 
 
Medinilla’s designs draw from a deep well of global cultural influences, resulting in "soulful pieces" that act as a bridge between ancient tradition and modern sophistication. They marry softened metals and solid brass with rare agates, luminous pearls, and protective crystals layering in textiles, leather, and semiprecious gems with master-level craftsmanship. De Petra utilizes crochet over organic cotton threads to create intricate textile foundations.

De Petra Jewelry is the culmination of an 18-year journey where the creative spirit of artist, Lorena Medinilla, and the business acumen of her husband, Arturo, have flourished into a nationally recognized brand.
