LATE FRIDAYS: MUSIC IN THE GALLERIES
Music and the visual arts harmonize at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

“Bolero Querido” blends the heart of Latin romance with the elegance of the concert stage in a vibrant celebration of culture, rhythm, and storytelling. Through the music of legends like Ravel, Consuelo Velásquez, and Cantinflas, this captivating program traces the roots and evolution of bolero from folk traditions to modern ballet. “Bolero Querido” is a journey filled with passion, nostalgia, and the timeless power of song.
 
Mecury Orchestra is directed by Denis Plante and features baritone Hector Vásquez, Jonathan Godfrey and Emily Richardson on violin, Kathleen Carrington on viola, Eunghee Cho on cello, Antoine Plante on bass, and Jesús Pacheco on percussion.


Music in the Galleries is a monthly series that brings Houston’s renowned music ensembles and solo performers into the Museum’s immersive gallery spaces. Looking for more to do during Late Friday? Enjoy a drink at Happy Hour Friday or join a guided tour of the galleries.

About the Performers
Mercury began in 2000 as an intimate ensemble with the goal to enrich and entertain audiences with an exciting repertoire performed on period instruments. What started as a grassroots effort blossomed into a lively chamber orchestra beloved by the community. In 2013, Mercury rebranded and expanded its repertoire to include works outside of the Baroque period while continuing to bring inspiring music to people across Houston and beyond.
