In this compelling documentary, told mostly through animation, a man opens up about his past for the first time. Amin (a pseudonym) shares his journey as a child refugee from Afghanistan. Talking in his own voice to his neighbor, Danish filmmaker Jonas Poher Rasmussen, Amin reveals a painful secret kept hidden for 20 years, one that threatens to derail the life Amin has built for himself and his soon-to-be husband. Flee received the World Cinema Grand Jury Award at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.

Flee made history as the first film nominated for Academy Awards in all of these categories: Best International Feature, Best Documentary Feature, and Best Animated Feature. The 2022 Oscars ceremony takes place March 27.
