DACAMERA Young Artists present a concert inspired by the exhibition Art and Life in Imperial Rome: Trajan and His Times. Featuring musicians Chloe de Souza, piano; Adam W. Sadberry, flute; and alumni artist Kelsey Sham, harp, the concert repertoire explores the wonders of the Roman world, mythological influences, and ancient melodies realized through modern transcriptions.

Program

  • Charles Griffes: Roman Sketches, Op.7
  • Jules Mouquet: Divertissement grec, Op. 23
  • Christoph Willibald Gluck: Minuet and Dance of the Blessed Spirits
  • Caroline Lizotte: Suite Galactique, Hymne au bon combat
  • Modern transcriptions of ancient melodies by Mesomedes and Athenaeus, son of Athenaeus

About the Performers
The DACAMERA Young Artists program is a fellowship for emerging professional instrumentalists, vocalists, and composers. It encourages musicians to develop the skills they need to become passionate, forward-thinking, community-focused 'citizen artists' who reimagine the traditional notions of making music and contribute to society through their art and social engagement.
