This year, the United States marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. As the nation considers its past and imagines its future, art offers meaningful perspectives into moments in time.
With America 250 at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the MFAH highlights American artistic achievements in its permanent collection. About the Speakers
Alison de Lima Greene is the Isabel Brown Wilson Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
Cindi Strauss is the Sara and Bill Morgan Curator of Decorative Arts, Craft, and Design at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. She has curated over thirty exhibitions, including Ornament as Art: Contemporary Jewelry from the Helen Williams Drutt Collection and Liquid Lines: Exploring the Language of Contemporary Metal. She was also co-author of In Flux: American Jewelry and the Counterculture. More recently, Strauss co-curated The Jewelry of Dorothea Prühl and Going Underground: The Jewels of Bernhard Schobinger.
