This harpsichord recital of arrangements by Johann Sebastian Bach features Matthew Dirst, professor and head of musicology at the Moores School of Music, University of Houston. Dirst plays a German-style harpsichord by John Phillips, whose use of elaborate decoration was inspired by Dresden marquetry from the early 18th century. The program takes you on a journey through Bach’s life: an early toccata in the Italian style, a French-style suite, and several preludes and fugues from The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 2.
