A Revolution on Canvas

Festival of Films from Iran

In their award-winning documentary A Revolution on Canvas, Sara Nodjoumi and Till Schauder delve into the mystery surrounding the disappearance of more than 100 paintings by Nodjoumi’s father, renowned Iranian modern artist and Nicky Nodjoumi. In 1980, he fled Iran following the protest of his solo exhibition, Report on the Revolution, and its subsequent shutdown at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art. The film follows efforts by the artist and his daughter to recover the missing paintings while also exploring their complicated family history.
