The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, is the only U.S. venue for an ambitious exhibition showcasing the work of French Post-Impressionist artist Paul Gauguin (1848–1903).

Gauguin in the World offers new perspectives on Gauguin’s life and work; his artistic networks and influences; and his contemporary legacies, both artistic and historical. The exhibition features more than 150 of Gauguin’s paintings, sculptures, prints, and drawings.

Unfolding across six galleries, Gauguin in the World reveals the arc of the artist’s career, from his Impressionist beginnings in Paris through his final years, with half of the exhibition devoted to Gauguin’s work in Tahiti and the Marquesas Islands.

Free audio guides are part of this exhibition!Free audio guides are available when you visit this exhibition! Experience Gauguin alongside global artists and experts, from Houston to Tahiti.

When you visit the exhibition Wednesday through Friday, stop by Le Jardinier at MFAH for a treat or cocktail. Inspired by Gauguin’s vibrant color palette, the “Bright Hibiscus” dessert combines rich layers of lemon and biscuit. A nod to the artist’s travels, the “Ictus Sketch” balances fig, melon, and cognac for a sultry sipper. Learn more & book a reservation.
