The annual exhibition Eye on Houston: High School Documentary Photography documents and celebrates Houston’s diverse neighborhoods through an ongoing collaboration between the Houston Independent School District and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

Houston is a global city, with strengths in business, trade, entertainment, culture, media, fashion, science, sports, technology, education, medicine, and research. The area’s more than six million people represent a variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds, and a large, growing international community. As a result, Houston is often described as one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse metropolitan areas in both Texas and the United States.

In its 31st year, Eye on Houston features images by students representing nine high schools: Bellaire, Carnegie Vanguard, DeBakey, Eastwood Academy, Lamar, Waltrip, Washington, Westbury, and Yates. The students documented daily life in their respective communities, capturing moments that reflect their sense of self, their future, and their imminent transition into adulthood. Eye on Houston offers students from neighborhoods throughout the city an opportunity to share their unique views of Houston.
