Winter Break Schedule & Hours
The MFAH is open every day from December 26, 2025 to January 4, 2026. Closed on Christmas Day.
Bayou Bend, Rienzi, and the MFAH restaurants have separate schedules.
Looking for inspiration during the holidays? The MFAH is open for 10 days straight between December 26 and January 4 with exhibitions, installations, and more for all ages. Plus, the Museum has family activities with art-making fun related to Art and Life in Imperial Rome: Trajan and His Times.
At the main campus, you’ll find three gallery buildings, colorful artist-designed tunnels, restaurants, and outdoor art. Unwind in the sculpture garden or on the plaza, browse in the MFA Shop, see a movie, and discover what’s on view at the Glassell School of Art.
Want to extend the fun? Visit the two MFAH house museums. Rienzi showcases European decorative arts, paintings, and furniture. Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens features American decorative arts and, through December 30, presents the immersive Christmas Village.

Christmas Village at Bayou Bend
Discover an immersive holiday experience during Christmas Village at Bayou Bend. Cross a dazzling bridge into a winter wonderland featuring thousands of sparkling lights throughout the 14-acre estate of Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens.

Bring the family and make your own art! Museum educators help spark new discoveries about works in the exhibition Art and Life in Imperial Rome: Trajan and His Times. Discover new aspects of the Roman Empire and create family memories to last a lifetime.
Visit the MFA Shop for a unique selection of art-inspired gifts, prints, jewelry, apparel, home decor, stationery, toys, and more. You’ll also find catalogues and other items related to your favorite exhibitions.

See a movie on the big screen! MFAH Films presents fun, artful, thought-provoking short-film compilations in partnership with the New York International Children’s Film Festival.
Cafe Leonelli at MFAH
Enjoy traditional Italian cuisine in a friendly and relaxed environment. Located in the Kinder Building, Cafe Leonelli serves breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
Cafe Leonelli at Glassell School
This location of Cafe Leonelli is open on weekdays with a selection of coffees, focaccia, sweets, and more. Stop in to take a break, or pick up a treat when you’re on the go.
Le Jardinier
French for “the gardener,” the Michelin-starred Le Jardinier presents a refined culinary experience. Located in the Kinder Building, the restaurant offers lunch, brunch, and dinner service by reservation.
