As Latin American films continue to flood the most prestigious film festivals around the world, we have made a selection of some of the best of those works for the 4th annual Latin Wave film festival at the MFAH. As in previous years, we have a strong presence from first- and second-time filmmakers, as they continue to energize this vibrant period of Latin American cinema. Some of the filmmakers that began this major revitalization of cinema in the region are now well established and also represented in this year’s selection. In addition to including our usual representation from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia, Latin Wave also has films from Chile, Peru, and Panama for the first time. All films are Houston premieres and many will be introduced by the filmmaker, who will be available for Q&As after the screenings.

El cine de América Latina continúa desdoblándose en los festivales de cine más prestigiosos del mundo. Para ésta cuarta edición del festival Latin Wave en el MFAH hemos escogido algunos de los mejores trabajos cinematográficos presentados en estos festivales. Tal como en pasadas ediciones, este año contamos con la presencia de noveles cineastas quienes presentan su primer o segundo largometraje, trabajo que a su vez está energizando a este vibrante periodo en el cine de América Latina. También están representadas en el festival cintas de algunos de los ya consagrados cineastas que iniciaron esta revitalización del cine en la región. E este año el festival Latin Wave cuenta por primera vez con largometrajes procedentes de países con una producción cinematográfica ascendente, tales como Chile, Perú y Panamá los cuales complementan nuestra típica selección de Argentina, Brasil, México y Colombia. éste es el estreno en Houston de todas las películas, muchas de las cuales serán presentadas por sus directores, quienes participarán de una sesión de preguntas y respuestas luego de cada proyección.
