You’re Missing the Point is the most outstanding comedy of the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema. Director and scriptwriter Juan Bustillo Oro was one of the first Mexican filmmakers acknowledged for his artistic talent. He also recognized the audience’s desire for popular entertainment, as reflected by his choice of an en vogue cast for this film. Additionally, Cantinflas (Mario Moreno) broke through as the greatest comedy star of the time. Mexico’s answer to Charlie Chaplin, Cantinflas uses circuitous speech and mind games to intellectually exhaust his enemies and unmask a disturbingly corrupt system.
