In a watchtower on the border of Iran and Pakistan, soldier Hamin (Iman Afshar) is angrily ruminating about why he was denied permission to attend his sister’s wedding back home. He has disobeyed orders in the past, but not being able to join the wedding celebration is unbearable. Over the course of Untimely—a spellbinding, poetic tale—Hamin reminisces about the close relationship with his sister and their traumatic childhood through episodes going back and forth in time. Epic cinematography and a haunting soundtrack add to the captivating debut feature from musician/novelist Pouya Eshtehardi.
