Police detective Yvonne (Adèle Haenel) discovers that her dead husband was not the police hero for which he is being memorialized. Deeply corrupt, he took bribes and put an innocent man in prison. Yvonne aims to right her husband’s injustices and starts by helping wrongly convicted Antoine (Pio Marmaï) as he is released from prison. But she pretends to be a prostitute and ends up attracted to the charming ex-convict who has a hard time remaining a law-abiding citizen. Audrey Tatou costars. Nominated for nine César Awards, including Best Picture.
“Audiences familiar with Haenel’s intense presence in films like the Dardenne brothers’ The Unknown Girl or Robin Campillo’s BPM (Beats Per Minute) will be surprised to see the grace and buoyancy she brings to a character with delightful shades of the classic screwball heroine.” —Hollywood Reporter
