This layered fantasy follows overlapping stories set in Buenos Aires: Composer Helmut Lachenmann is staging an opera of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Match Girl at the Teatro Colón. An elderly concert pianist’s letters from a militant ex-lover are discovered. A young couple struggles to raise their precious daughter Cleo, who is fascinated by the donkey in Robert Bresson’s film Au Hasard Balthazar.

The Little Match Girl (La vendedora de fósforos) is the winner of the Best Argentinian Film at the 2017 BAFICI, the Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema.
