Introduced by Gary Tinterow, director of the MFAH

Presented by Patrick Summers, artistic and music director of Houston Grand Opera

Celebrated writer-director Francis Veber (La Cage aux Folles) adapted his own play, a dark comedy about a competition among a group of smug Parisians to see who can bring the biggest “idiot” to their weekly dinner party. Pierre (Thierry Lhermitte) thinks he’s outdone them all with his latest guest (Jacques Villeret), a finance-ministry accountant whose hobby is building matchstick replicas of famous monuments. But through a series of mishaps, the tables are turned—with hilarious and surprising results.
