Shakespeare Wallah, starring Shashi Kapoor, Madhur Jaffrey, and Felicity Kendal, is inspired by the real-life adventures of Kendal’s family—a traveling theater group in India during the final days of English colonial rule. Trying to stage Shakespeare plays for the general public, the troupe is unable to compete with the popular Bollywood film industry.
