Combining history, amateur radio, and absurdist humor, Ernesto Daranas playfully ruminates on how important historic events affect the lives of everyday people.

In the late 1980s, university professor Sergio lives on a meager salary with his mother and young daughter. One evening he stumbles across a channel on his ham radio that connects him to the Mir Space Station and lonely cosmonaut Sergei, whose country no longer exists due to the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The friendship that develops between Sergio and Sergei sets the stage for a complex operation to bring home the cosmonaut, who is stranded in space until a formal plan for funding is in place.
