Saturday Members Tour | “None Whatsoever: Zen Paintings from the Gitter-Yelen Collection”

MFAH members are invited to explore the Museum’s art collections and exhibitions on special Saturday tours. Topics change monthly.

In March, join a docent on a tour of None Whatsoever, which features masterworks of Zen Buddhist Japanese paintings from the renowned Gitter-Yelen Collection. Complementing the presentation are selections from the MFAH collection of modern and contemporary art influenced by Zen Buddhism.

The exhibition takes its title from a legendary encounter between a Buddhist monk and a Chinese emperor. When the emperor asked how much goodwill his generous deeds had earned in the eyes of the Buddha, the monk curtly replied, “None Whatsoever.” Learn More
