ROCO Connections | “A House of My Own” at Rienzi

POSTPONED “A House of My Own” at Rienzi

ROCO’s Connections series presents a Mexican-style Schubertiade salon concert in the ballroom at Rienzi. The evening features the world premiere of songs by ROCO composer-in-residence Derek Bermel, based on the writings of author Sandra Cisneros.

The program includes works by Franz Schubert and other composers, as well as “A House of My Own” from the opera The House on Mango Street. Mezzo-soprano Cecilia Duarte is joined by Ana María Otamendi on piano, and Jesús Pacheco Mánuel on percussion.

The house opens at 6 p.m. for self-guided visits, and the performance begins at 7 p.m. To ensure the safety of guests and staff, capacity is limited and masks are required. See the latest MFAH visitor protocols here.
