Fortysomething actor and family man Guillaume Canet (the director, playing himself) is shocked when a starlet tells him he’s no longer considered hip by young filmgoers. On a mission to prove her wrong, Canet enlists the help of his old friend (the late Johnny Hallyday, in a cameo appearance).
Meanwhile, Canet’s (real-life) girlfriend, Marion Cotillard, becomes annoyingly preoccupied with learning Quebecois for her role in a film by Xavier Dolan. From self-tanning and Botox to bodybuilding and plastic surgery, Canet hilariously transforms himself into a parody of a virile movie star. A few extravagant musical numbers highlight this raunchy comedy that takes an unlikely journey from Paris to South Florida.
