The MFAH is the only venue in Houston presenting all three programs of the short films nominated for Academy Awards in 2018. Before the winners are announced on March 4, you can see the nominees at the Museum—on the big screen! Plus, you can vote for your favorite in each category: Animated Short Film, Live-Action Short Film, and Documentary Short Subject.

• DeKalb Elementary

This drama is inspired by the events surrounding a 911 call placed during a school-shooting incident in Atlanta.
• The Silent Child
By Chris Overton and Rachel Shenton
A deaf 4-year-old lives in a world of silence, and a caring social worker tries to teach her how to communicate.
• My Nephew Emmett
By Kevin Wilson, Jr.
This drama follows Emmett Till’s uncle, Mose Wright, who tries in vain to prevent the abduction and murder of his 14-year-old nephew Emmett.
• The Eleven O’Clock
By Derin Seale and Josh Lawson
In this comedy, a therapy session gets out of control as a psychiatrist and his delusional patient, who believes he’s the real psychiatrist, attempt to treat each other.
• Watu Wote/All of Us
By Katja Benrath and Tobias Rosen
A 2015 terrorist attack on a bus in Kenya attempts to divide Muslim and Christian neighbors, but instead brings them together.
