Odds Against Tomorrow

Directed by Robert Wise
(USA, 1959, 35mm)

To pull off a bank robbery, a former policeman (Ed Begley) recruits unlikely partners: a nightclub entertainer (Harry Belafonte) with gambling debts, and a racist ex-con (Robert Ryan). Odds Against Tomorrow is at once a suspenseful crime film and an allegory about racism, greed, and humankind’s propensity for self-destruction.

Directed by Oscar winner Robert Wise, the film features a dynamic score composed by John Aaron Lewis of the Modern Jazz Quartet, and a cast that also includes Gloria Grahame and Shelley Winters.
