A Maltese fisherman faces an agonizing choice: repair his leaking luzzu (boat) to continue earning a meager living, or sell it to join a lucrative black-market operation that decimates the livelihoods of local families. Luzzu won a Sundance Jury Prize for nonprofessional lead actor Jesmark Scicluna, a real-life Maltese fisherman.
Introducing the screening is Eszter Simor, visiting assistant professor of film at Sam Houston State University.
