Leonardo: The Works
Saturday, January 25, 2020:
Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519) is acclaimed as one of the world’s favorite artists. Although many TV shows and feature films have showcased aspects of Leonardo’s extraordinary genius, often not examined closely enough is the most crucial element of all: his art.
Leonardo’s peerless paintings and drawings are the focus of Leonardo: The Works, which presents every single attributed painting in Ultra HD. Key works include the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, Lady with an Ermine, and Virgin of the Rocks. This film also looks afresh at Leonardo’s life─his inventiveness, sculptural skills, military foresight, and ability to navigate the treacherous politics of the day through the prism of art. Released to mark the 500th anniversary of Leonardo’s death, this film is the first to truly tell the whole story.
• Short, docent-led tours of related works of art in the galleries follow each screening.
