Knocking (Knackningar)

Knocking (Knackningar)

(Sweden, 2021, Digital, in Swedish with English subtitles)

Halloween weekend brings this Swedish gaslighting horror story to the big screen.

After Molly (Cecilia Milocco) is released from a psychiatric ward, she moves into an apartment where she hears knocking and screams. Convinced someone needs help, Molly tells her neighbors and the police, but no one believes her. Filmmaker Frida Kempff says that the short novel on which Knocking is based reminded her of the #MeToo movement. “The gaslight story is such a current topic. What can be scarier than no one believing you?”
