History Book Club “UPROAR!”
March 12, 2025
Look to the MFAH for good books and great conversations! The History Book Club presents free discussions about books on life in Europe and America during the 18th and 19th centuries, inspired by the collections of the two MFAH house museums: Bayou Bend and Rienzi.
The book selection for March is UPROAR! Satire, Scandal & Printmakers in Georgian London by Alice Loxton. Set against a backdrop of royal madness, political intrigue, the birth of modern celebrity, the French Revolution, American independence, and the Napoleonic Wars, UPROAR! follows the satirists as they lampoon those in power, capturing a pivotal era through wit and artistry.
