Loss affects everyone differently—it surprises; it transforms; it can isolate people or bring them together. This presentation looks at how medical professionals cope with their own emotional reactions to loss, untangling the complexities of grief and offering a hopeful view toward resilience. Also featured are works of art that capture the paradoxical emotions of grief, including Yayoi Kusama’s Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity, a Dutch Armorial and Allegorical Mirror Frame, and Transparent Migrations by Amalia Mesa-Bains (pictured in the slideshow).
