Ginger and Fred

Fellini 100

Ginger and Fred
Directed by Federico Fellini
(Italy/France/West Germany, 1986, Digital restoration, in English and Italian with English subtitles)

At one time, song-and-dance team Amelia (Giulietta Masina) and Pippo (Marcello Mastroianni) were famous for re-creating the dance routines of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Decades later, they reunite to perform on a TV variety show. Ginger and Fred marks Masina′s final performance in the films of her husband, Federico Fellini.

Introducing the screening is Alessandro Carrera, University of Houston professor and author of Fellini’s Eternal Rome.
