Festival of Films from Iran

Filmfarsi
Directed by Ehsan Khoshbakht
(Iran/UK, 2019, Digital, in Farsi with English subtitles)

Take a fascinating journey through popular Iranian cinema before the revolution. The term filmfarsi refers to the rowdy, melodramatic genre films from the early 1950s to 1979. Lively clips showcase action, titillation, and big emotions as Iran struggled to reconcile religious traditions with the turbulence of modernity and the influences of the West.
