Recently rediscovered and restored, this jewel of Iranian cinema is a hypnotically stylized murder mystery. The film unfolds in a candlelit mansion where a web of greed, violence, and betrayal ensnares the heirs to a family fortune. Chess of the Wind takes its place as one of the most astonishing works of Iran’s pre-revolution New Wave, and features the screen debut of future Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo (House of Sand and Fog).
