This “Art Encounters” session encourages you to take part in a collaborative drawing activity inspired by artist William Forsythe, whose work is on view in the exhibition William Forsythe: Choreographic Objects.
The activity echoes the movements of the swinging pendulums in Forsythe’s installation Nowhere and Everywhere at the Same Time. Stand over a communal canvas on the floor, swing a mark-making tool attached to the end of a string, and create layered designs on the surface below. Experiment with different types of mark-making tools, and repeat the motion in an effort to achieve controlled marks.
Drop in! This program is free. On Thursdays, Museum general admission is free, courtesy of Shell Oil Company.
