“A demonstration of how art, and the purpose behind it, can save lives ... easily one of the year’s best films.” —Houston Chronicle

All the Beauty and the Bloodshed is a compelling documentary about renowned artist/activist Nan Goldin and her mission to hold the Sackler family responsible for the opioid crisis. The film reveals Goldin (who is well represented in the MFAH collections) through her work and via intimate interviews tracing her career and startling family revelations. Goldin’s establishment of the advocacy organization P.A.I.N. (Prescription Addiction Intervention Now) is also featured. Directed by Oscar winner Laura Poitras (Citizenfour), this film was awarded the Golden Lion at the 2022 Venice International Film Festival.
