    Oscar Nominees: Animated Short Film

    The MFAH is the only venue in Houston presenting all three programs of short films nominated for Academy Awards in 2018! Nominees for Best Animated Short Film include a Pixar tale about a lost-and-found box; an adaptation of a collection of Roald Dahl poems; and an ode to basketball brought to life by a legendary Disney director. Rated G unless otherwise noted.

    Arabic-Language Tour “Arts of Islamic Lands: Selections from The al-Sabah Collection, Kuwait”

    Mutlaq al-Juraid, assistant curator of The al-Sabah Collection, leads an Arabic-language tour of Arts of Islamic Lands: Selections from The al-Sabah Collection, Kuwait, sharing insights on objects  that demonstrate the development of techniques, craftsmanship, and aesthetics in Islamic visual culture.

    MFAH Films is the only venue in Houston presenting all three programs of the Academy Award–nominated short films! This year’s documentary short subjects include portraits of a nonagenarian newlywed couple and of artist Mindy Alper, and Thomas Lennon’s look at a restaurant staffed by men and women who were recently released from prison. Rated R for violence, drug abuse & language.
