See short films and videos by the 2017–18 Core Program artists-in-residence! Participating artists are in attendance for the program, which is presented in conjunction with the 2018 Core Exhibition, on view April 19–May 12 at Lawndale Art Center, 4912 Main Street.
• En Dansk Kyst (A Danish Coast) by Maria Bang Espersen
This short draws from a painting and diary by 19th-century Danish painter Johan Thomas Lundbye, among other sources.
• Boggy Creek Version 2 by Shana Hoehn
Boggy Creek Version 2 is based on the pop culture and mythology surrounding Bigfoot sightings along the Texas–Arkansas border, where Hoehn was raised.
• Gone Are the Days When My Heart Was Young and Gay by Yue Nakayama
Nakayama adapts her video installation project, Love in the Time of True Blue, into this short film.
• For Paradise by Elizabeth Webb
Webb explores the construction of racial identities within her compicated family history.
• Nan by Peng Zuqiang
A work in progress, this short film follows Nan he spends a Chinese New Year with his parents.
• More or Less and Not This by Devin Kenny
More or Less documents an improvisational dance performed in the dark. Not This features a new song by Kenny, with production and guest vocals by Vyle.
