Let's Go! Family Workshops

Creating a Great Family Experience at the MFAH

Have you ever felt nervous about bringing children into the museum galleries to look at art? You’ll be able to put your worries aside after attending the workshop "Let’s Go! Creating a Great Family Experience at the MFAH." This workshop for the entire family gives adults the tools to feel comfortable and confident about looking at art in the museum with their little ones.

Program Overview
During the first hour of the workshop, the adults in the group attend a session with two museum educators to learn about strategies and techniques to use when visiting an art museum as a family. During that same time, all children go to a studio space and work with an MFAH teaching artist on an art project featuring the MFAH mascots, Mwamba and Naki. Refreshments are available in both locations.

During the second hour, the children and adults in each family come back together and spend time in the galleries trying out their new strategies and techniques. Families have a chance to reflect on their experience, and they leave with materials to use on future visits.
