Oblivion reveals the long history of political corruption in Peru through anecdotes and testimonies of the working people of Lima. Master documentary filmmaker Heddy Honigmann returns to her native Peru and takes us to side street stalls, fancy restaurants, traditional bars, shops, and into the streets, where children juggle and perform acrobatics to earn a few coins from drivers stopped at traffic lights. We hear unedited stories from people like the tailor, whose father was almost arrested for treason because the president thought he was trying to make fun of him by sewing his sash backward (when it was actually the president who was wearing it the wrong way!). Full of irony and humor, Oblivion tells the story of the forgotten citizens of Peru.

El olvido revela la larga historia de corrupción política en el Perú a través de las anécdotas y los testimonios verídicos de gente trabajadora de Lima. La gran realizadora de documentales Heddy Honigmann regresa a su natal Perú, llevándonos en un recorrido a través de kioscos callejeros, restaurantes de lujo, bares tradicionales, tiendas y adentrándose en la calle en sí. Éste último el espacio en donde niños hacen malabarismos y realizan acrobacias para ganar unas pocas monedas de los conductores parados en los semáforos. Escuchamos las historias sin editar de gente como el sastre cuyo padre casi fue arrestado por traidor cuando el presidente pensó que estaba intentando hacerle una burla al coserle su faja presidencial al revés (¡cuando en realidad fue el presidente mismo quien la llevaba puesta de esa manera!). Llena de ironía y humor, El olvido narra la historia de los ciudadanos olvidados del Perú.

Heddy Honigmann es considerada una de las mejores realizadoras de documentales en el mundo. Nacida en el Perú en 1951, sus cintas han sido galardonadas con premios internacionales y su trabajo ha sido el tema de importantes retrospectivas en Barcelona, Berlín, Nueva York, París y Toronto, entre otras muchas ciudades. Sus trabajo documental se distingue por su elegante composición, por contar con una imaginería poética y precisa, además de por sus transiciones fluidas y su flujo natural.

Peruvian-born Heddy Honigmann (born 1951) is considered one of the world´s best documentary filmmakers. Her films have received major international awards and important retrospectives in Barcelona, Berlin, New York, Paris, Toronto, and many other cities. Her films are elegantly composed and rich in precisely poetic imagery, fluid transitions, and natural flow.
