In a once majestic traditional dance hall in São Paolo, the elderly and middle-aged still meet to dance and recapture the magic of their youth. Director Laís Bodanzky masterfully interweaves five stories that take place in a single night of longing, desperation, redemption, and, of course, samba. The camera glides around the dance floor, from a widower who is trying to judge the sincerity of a would-be suitor to a fifty-something man seducing the young girlfriend of a jealous deejay to a bitter man visited by the ghost of his late wife. In a tour de force worthy of Robert Altman, award-winning director Bodanzky beautifully portrays this formerly grand temple where bodies and souls continue to meet and passions are stirred.

Un antiguamente majestuoso salón de baile en San Pablo es el punto de encuentro para aquellos de tercera y mediana edad que buscan no solo baliar sino recobrar la magia de su juventud. El director Laís Bodanzky entreteje brillantemente cinco historias que se llevan a cabo en una sola noche de añoranza, desesperación, redención y claro, el baile de la samba. La cámara se desliza alrededor de la pista de baile, enfocando desde un viudo que intenta juzgar la sinceridad de una posible pretendiente hasta un hombre cincuentón que seduce a la joven novia del celoso discjockey o incluso hasta otro hombre amargado visitado por el fantasma de su difunta esposa. En esta hazaña digna de Robert Altman, el galardonado director Bodanzky presenta una hermosísima interpretación del grandioso templo venido a menos donde cuerpos y almas continúan reuniéndose e incitando pasiones.

Luiz Bolognesi es uno de los guionistas más galardonados del Brasil. Ha escrito cuatro largometrajes de distribución internacional y sus películas han recibido numerosos premios en los Estados Unidos, Europa, y América Latina.

Laís Bodanzky made her debut in filmmaking with the short film Red Card in 1994. She also directed the documentary Cine Mambembe: Cinema Discovers Brazil. In 2000 she directed her first feature-length fiction film, the acclaimed Brainstorm.
