The Peter Blum Edition 1980-1994 Archive, museum purchase with funds provided by the Alice Pratt Brown Museum Fund
Peter Blum was the first American to publish the work of emerging European artists. Unlike most print publishers, he does not own his own press. His role is somewhat like that of a marriage broker, matching an artist with the printer with which he thinks the artists will work best. By the mid-1980s, he was widely recognized as having the best eye of his generation.

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, owns all completed portfolios, single prints, and books produced by the Peter Blum Edition from the time it was founded in 1980 through June 1994, and houses all existing preparatory drawings, maquettes, working and trial proofs, and printing blocks or plates, as well as unique and unpublished works. The total number of pieces in the archives is over 1,000.

Singular Multiples: The Peter Blum Edition Archive, 1980-1994 consists of published works, plus occasional sections within the exhibition of related proofs, drawings, and/or matrices of selected images.
