Learning Through Art at the MFAH
Learning Through Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (LTA/MFAH) is an innovative, interdisciplinary, art-centered curriculum for grades 1–6. LTA/MFAH connects the museum’s collections of world art into the classroom curriculum for art, language arts, math, science, and social studies.
LTA/MFAH features two curriculum kits: one for grades 1–3 and another for grades 4–6.
Each kit contains:
- A teacher’s guide with multidisciplinary lesson charts, illustrated art-making lesson plans, and information about selected works of art
- A set of 24” x 36” full-color posters of each work
- A CD containing digital images of works of art
- A video (DVD or VHS) featuring four Texas artists at work
Curriculum kits are available for purchase or loan through the Kinder Foundation Education Center

Learning Through Art at the MFAH Training
Throughout the year, the MFAH offers workshops on the LTA/MFAH curriculum. Five levels are available, and it is helpful, but not necessary, to attend in consecutive order. These workshops are open to any educator. Workshops based on the LTA/MFAH curriculum are conducted at the museum, at schools and district facilities, and via distance learning.
