MFAH Online Book Club
The MFAH Online Book Club, designed for existing book clubs, links works of literature to art in the museum’s collections.
Participating in the MFAH Online Book Club is easy!
- Select one of the book selections below and download the accompanying discussion guide.
- Read the book in your own book club, and use the discussion guide to facilitate your conversation.
- Bring the members of your book club to the museum for a guided MFAH Book Club Visit to look at works of art in the museum’s collection in connection with the book.
- Become a part of the MFAH Online Book Club community. Sign up for the Book Club e-newsletter to receive announcements of new book selections and information on activities.
Not in a book club? Feel free to read the books, use the guides, and sign up for the newsletter on your own.

The MFAH Online Book Club summer selections—My Ántonia by Willa Cather and The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni—invite you to venture across time and place!
If you would like to come to the museum for a lively guided tour that pairs works of art with the themes and motifs of one of the featured books, here are your tour options:

Not part of a book club? Or just reading our summer book selections on your own? Then mark your calendar and join in one of the tours detailed below. Reservations are requested; please email the date you plan to come to bookclub@mfah.org. We will send you a reminder email.

All MFAH Online Book Club tours are free with general museum admission. The MFAH is free on Thursdays. Members receive free admission every day.
Copies of both books are available in the museum´s Hirsch Library and for purchase in the MFAH Shop. Tours for these books will be offered through September 30, 2010. Reading selections for the fall will be announced in July. To learn more, sign up for the Book Club e-newsletter.
