The Glassell Junior School offers art instruction for children ages 4-18. Year-round classes and workshops run the gamut of creativity—from multimedia to cartooning, from miniatures to wearable art.
This year's enrollment numbers more than 4,000, including nearly 200 students who receive tuition scholarships. Some of these scholarships are awarded for special talent through programs such as an annual sketching competition; others are based on need, which ensures that young people throughout the community have equal access to art education.
Works by students in the Junior School are featured in a series of exhibitions in the Norma R. Ory Gallery. The quality of these artworks reflects the creativity of the artists and the professionalism of the Junior School faculty.
Facilities
Classes and workshops are held in a spacious wing of the museum's Central Administration and Junior School Building, located at 5100 Montrose Boulevard. The Junior School has a covered drop-off door at the entrance on Bayard at Bartlett.
Photography classes are held in the Glassell Studio School, directly across the street from the Junior School.
