War seems to be an inevitable state of being for humanity. In the nearly four millennia of recorded history there have been few in which a war was not waged somewhere on earth. While the exhibition WAR/PHOTOGRAPHY: Images of Armed Conflict and Its Aftermath holds up a photographic mirror, starting in 1846, the museum’s collection has many works that depict war and those who participated in combat, and objects that help us reflect upon the irreplaceable losses.
