Last year's Houston Turkish Film Festival featured Onur Ünlü’s droll The Extremely Sad Tale of Celal Tan and His Family. Ünlü continues to win acclaim as one of Turkey’s most innovative directors. His new film, which takes its title from a Shakespeare sonnet, is definitely for more adventurous film lovers! A mysterious modern day fable that is set in a small town in Anatolia, where anxious Cemal attempts suicide in a barbershop. Anxieties are prevalent in the village, where there are a giant, an invisible woman, and a bookseller who can stop time with a clap of her hands.

“A streak of black humor infuses every scene but Ünlü manages to show compassion for each of his characters even when . . . they possibly end up causing the end of the world.”  —2013 Toronto International Film Festival
