Every Sunday, it's ArtTime/FamilyTime at the MFAH. This Sunday, look for signs in the main lobbies directing you to activities in the Arts of India Gallery. In the Family Zone, spend time with the friendly family educators: sit on a pillow and read, sketch a work of art, and join an investigation of a work of art. In the studio, create an art project inspired by original works of art on display in the Family Zone.

This suite of programs includes:

  • Sunday Storytime Make connections between the storybook Elephant Prince: The Story of Ganesh by Amy Novesky and Belgin K. Wedman and a sculpture of Ganesh in the Arts of India Gallery. (begins at 1:30 p.m.)
  • Creation Station Inspired by a sculpture of Ganesh in the Arts of India gallery, families will explore the idea of avatars and different animal attributes often found in Hindu stories by creating masks showcasing powers and features of different animals and heroes.
  • Gallery Investigations An MFAH educator at the Gallery Cart has an "I Spy" search, looking games, hands-on materials, and books for families.
  • Sketching in the Galleries An MFAH teaching artist guides adults and children of all drawing levels at this informal program.
