The Robert Avalon International Competition for Composers: Concert and Awards Program

Saturday, Nov 23, 2013
4 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Law Building, Lower Level
1001 Bissonnet Map & Directions

With submissions from around the world, the 8th Annual Robert Avalon International Competition for Composers finalists' concert is the signature event of the Foundation for Modern Music’s season and honors the vision of its namesake.

Every year this competition celebrates exciting, new, and highly original music by both young and more established composers, and this year's cutting-edge compositions feature some very challenging, unconventional demands—including a unique solution for pianists who only have two hands!

Listeners vote for their favorite selection in order to award the special audience prize at the conclusion of this event.

This program is free with general admission! Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Education programs receive generous funding from the Kinder Foundation; the Institute of Museum and Library Services; ExxonMobil; the Favrot Fund; Occidental Petroleum Corporation; the National Museum of Korea;
